- Are you experiencing difficulty hearing important sounds like the doorbell or phone calls?
- Do you deal with persistent ringing?
Hearing loss not only affects your ability to hear but can also have a significant impact on your psychological well-being. Feeling isolated and excluded from conversations due to hearing difficulties can lead to frustration and diminished quality of life.
If you think your hearing may have deteriorated, it is important to have it checked professionally as soon as possible. Our audiologist will be able to advise you on how you can look after your valuable sense of hearing now and in the future.

Complimentary ear health checks
When you schedule a free hearing test, our audiologist will thoroughly assess the health of your ears. We’ll take a brief medical history and check the health of your ears and eardrums with an Otoscopy.
Your hearing ability will then be checked with a range of everyday scenarios at various pitches and tones played through a pair of headphones. These will include your ability to:
- Understand speech in quiet surroundings.
- Understand speech in more challenging and noisy places.
- Cope with fatigue from wearing a hearing system in a noisy environment for a prolonged period.
- Respond to the new hearing levels and make sense of words again – assessed through an aided word recognition test.
This full diagnostic audiometry examination helps us determine exactly what has gone wrong with your hearing. Based on the results, your audiologist will recommend the next steps to keep your ears and hearing healthy and optimal.
Ear wax removal in Newark and Anstey
It comes as a surprise to many that ear wax is good for the health of your ears. It plays a vital role in preventing infection and removing debris from the ear canal. Ear wax is produced by glands within your ear canal and varies in colour from yellow through to dark brown. Although production of wax is natural, some people produce more than others, and some are more prone to a buildup over time.
What causes earwax buildup?
However, there are several factors which contribute to the differences between people including having hairy, narrow or S-shaped ear canals. The use of cotton buds, ear plugs, earphones and hearing devices can also encourage ear wax to build up.
Those who are prone to wax buildup and those who use hearing aids should get their ears checked annually.
What are the symptoms of earwax buildup?
- Hearing loss
- Ear feeling itchy
- Earache
- Tinnitus (a ringing in the ears)
- Infection
Micro-suction ear wax removal
Those with ear wax buildup can now access local treatment without lengthy waiting times. Our Ear Wax Removal Service is provided by our qualified Audiologist using Microsuction.
Microsuction is a safe, efficient, gentle and comfortable method to remove wax from the ear canal; no liquids are used during the procedure. This means that the procedure is clean and non-invasive. It also allows us to clearly see the ear canal while we work, making it an exceptionally safe procedure. It’s quick and painless, often taking no more than a few minutes. It is considered the safest, most effective method of wax removal in the field and will be carried out by our specialist Audiologist.
How much does earwax removal cost?
We can carry out ear wax removal at £80 per appointment. Our Audiologist will only remove wax when required.
